David van Nunen

David van Nunen is President of the Australian Watercolour Institute and a founding executive member of the Painters and Sculptors Association of Australia.

Born in Grafton, New South Wales in 1952, he holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts. Since 1974, van Nunen has held over 41 solo exhibitions, including the Australian Embassies in Paris, Washington D.C. and Mexico City, and participated in more than 120 group exhibitions in Australia, America, France, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and China.

1952年生於新南威爾士州格拉夫頓市,並取得新南威爾斯大學藝術學院藝術碩士學位。自1974年起,凡努能在澳洲駐法國巴黎大使館、美國華盛頓特區及墨西哥市等地舉辦超過41場個展,也曾於澳洲、美國、法國、墨西哥、英國、臺灣、韓國、泰國及中國參加超過120個聯展。

 

His artist-in-residencies include CitéInternationale des Arts, Paris; the Museum and Art Galleries of the Northern Territory; the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Arthur Boyd’s Bundanon Trust property on the Shoalhaven River. In 2013, van Nunen was artist-in residence at the Himalayas Art Museum, Zhujiajiao, China, culminating in a solo exhibition there.

He was curator of Wattle, Rose and Thistle: the Finest Watercolourists of Australia, England and Scotland, shown in England, Scotland and Australia in 2010; co-curator, with Professor Chin-Lung Huang of Tradition and Transformation: Taiwan-Australia Exhibition, shown in Taiwan and Australia (2012-2013); co-curator with Xidan Chen ofAcross the Water: China-Australia Modern Masters of Watercolour, at QuanhuaWatercolour Gallery, Zhujiajiao, Shenzhen Fine Art Museum and the Moran Arts Foundation, Juniper Hall, Sydney in 2015 and co-curator with Tianya Zhou of Australia- Shenzhen in 2017.

He is co-author, with Linda van Nunen, of Brushes with History: Masters of Watercolour, published by The Beagle Press in 2015.

他也與琳達.凡努能於2015年共同出版《畫筆風華:水彩大師》(The Beagle Press)。

Among van Nunen’s art awards are the Sydney Morning Herald Art Prize for landscape painting, the Sydney Harbour Week Art Award for his plein air paintings of Sydney Harbour and the Kogarah Art Prize.

凡努能獲得多項獎項肯定,包括他的風景畫榮獲「雪梨晨鋒報藝術獎」、替雪梨港所畫的風景寫生畫作榮獲「雪梨港週藝術獎」及科格拉藝術獎。

His work is represented in major public and private collections internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
